A very fine Derby porcelain plate, dating to c1815, and decorated with a fabulous hand painted central reserve of birds by Richard Dodson. The reserve is surrounded by further spectacular painting of apple blossom, butterflies and bugs, thought to be the work of Thomas Steel. Enhanced with rich gilding.
The plate measures 9 inches diameter and is in good condition. No chips, cracks, hairlines, crazing or restoration - just some wear to the gilding, mainly at the rim.
Pieces of Derby featuring birds are relatively scarce - a great opportunity for the Derby collector!
