A rare and fine Derby porcelain large bowl in the "Cannonball" pattern, denoted as "rare" in Steven Goss's "British Blue and White Porcelain Saucers 1745-1795 - A Guide to Pattern Identification."  Please see item 410, page 215.
 
In his book, Steven Goss highlights that one of the trees seems to be half blossoming cherry and half pine, a pecularity which seems unique to Derby.
 
The bowl is decorated in underglaze blue, with rocks, pegodas, trees, etc. in the Chinese manner.  It dates to c1765, and measures 5 inches in diameter by approximately 2 inches high.
 
In very good condition for its age, save for two very short tight lines at the rim, which may have been there since manufacture, as the bowl "pings" perfectly.
