An early Bow porcelain leaf-shaped dish, dating to c1755.
 
The decoration is very unusual - insects and bugs with a spray of flowers, along with leaf veins in underglaze blue. Often these dishes are seen boldly painted with leaves and grape vines with deep mazarine blue being the principal colour.
 
The dish form is unusual too and although the firing and painting are definitely Bow, it is not of a form orginating at the factory and echoes those of Chelsea production.

The dish is in good condition for its age, but as is often the case with these early pieces, it does have some faults.  These is the usual Bow kiln speckling to the front and two hairline cracks to the reverse, not seen from the upper side.  Some nibbles to the edges of the dish also.  Please contact me for a full condition report or additional photos.
